Frequently asked questions

What is Nikko?

Nikko is a menu-bar clipboard manager for macOS. It keeps a searchable history of everything you copy — text, links, images, colors, files and more — so you can find and paste it again in a keystroke.

How do I open Nikko?

Click the Nikko icon in your menu bar, or use the global keyboard shortcut. You can customize the shortcut, the menu-bar icon, and where the window appears in Settings.

How do I paste something?

Open Nikko and click any item to paste it into the app you were using. You can also assign per-item paste shortcuts, and use quick-paste (a modifier plus 1–9) to paste your most recent items without opening the window. Pasting is a Nikko Pro feature.

How do slash commands work?

Type / in the search bar to filter your history. For example, /text, /link, /image, /color, /file, /folder, /email and /terminal narrow to a content type; /date filters by time; /app filters by the app you copied from; /star shows pinned items; and /tag searches your tags. Prefix any filter with /ex (for example /ex image) to exclude it instead.

How do I organize my history?

Pin (star) the items you use most so they stay at the top, add tags to group related items, and use categories — which appear along the bottom of the window — to jump between kinds of content. Deleted items can go to a recycle bin so you can restore them, and you can set how long history is kept and a maximum number of items in Settings.

Can I customize how Nikko looks?

Yes. The Appearance settings let you tune the window's look, and you can pick a ready-made style — Default or Minimal — as a starting point. You can also choose the menu-bar icon and show or hide window chrome like the item count and sync indicator.

What’s free and what needs Nikko Pro?

Every download includes a free 14-day trial of all Pro features — no credit card or account needed. After the trial, capturing, searching, and organizing your clipboard history stay free. Nikko Pro unlocks pasting, iCloud sync, drag & drop, and everything else. Pro is available as a monthly or annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase — see Pricing.

How do I activate Nikko Pro?

After checkout you’ll get an email with your license key. Click Activate Nikko Pro in that email, or open Nikko → Settings → Subscription (or Enter License Key… in the menu-bar menu) and paste the key.

I lost my license key.

Open Nikko’s upgrade window, click Lost your key?, and enter the email you used at checkout — we’ll email your key again. You can also contact us.

Can I use Nikko Pro on more than one Mac?

Yes — each license works on up to 3 Macs you own. To move it to a new Mac, open Settings → Subscription on the old one and choose Deactivate This Mac, then activate on the new Mac.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Open Nikko → Settings → Subscription and click Manage, or use the link in your receipt email. From there you can update your payment method, download invoices, switch plans, or cancel. If you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.

How do I request a refund?

All purchases have a 14-day money-back guarantee. Email nicksprivatebox@gmail.com with the email address you used at checkout, or reply to your receipt email. Details are in our Refund Policy.

Who is Paddle, and why is it on my receipt?

Our orders are processed by our online reseller Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles payment, tax, invoices, and refunds, so your bank statement will show a charge from Paddle (for example “PADDLE.NET* NIKKO”).

Is my clipboard data private?

Yes. Your history is stored locally on your Mac. We don’t collect or sell your clipboard content. If you turn on iCloud sync, data is synced through your own private iCloud. You can also ignore specific apps, skip transient content, and mark sensitive items to hide their contents. See our Privacy Policy.

Does Nikko sync across my Macs?

Yes — enable iCloud sync in Settings. You can control which content types sync and set a maximum file size for synced images.

Can I back up or move my history?

Yes. Nikko can export your clipboard history and settings to a JSON file, with optional filtering, and import them again later.
