This Privacy Policy explains how Nikoloz Nutsubidze, individual entrepreneur, Georgia (“Nikko,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the data controller, handles information in connection with the Nikko macOS application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Our approach to privacy
Nikko is designed to be private by default. The clipboard content you capture is stored locally on your Mac. Your clipboard content is never sent to us — not to our license server or anywhere else — and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. The only information we process relates to purchases and license activation, described in sections 4 and 5.
2. Information stored on your device
To provide its core functionality, the App stores the following on your Mac:
- Clipboard history — the text, links, images, colors, files, folders, and other items you copy, together with metadata such as timestamps, the source application, and any categories, tags, comments, or stars you add.
- Recognized text from images — when optical character recognition (OCR) is enabled, text detected within images is stored locally so your items are searchable.
- Your settings and preferences — configuration such as shortcuts, appearance, capture rules, and retention settings.
This data remains on your device and under your control. You can delete individual items, empty the recycle bin, clear your history, or reset the App at any time.
3. iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your clipboard history and selected settings are synchronized across your own Apple devices using Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) in your private iCloud database. This data is transmitted and stored through Apple’s infrastructure under your Apple Account and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your private iCloud data. iCloud sync is optional and off unless you turn it on, and you can choose which content types are synced.
4. Purchases (Paddle)
Purchases of Nikko Pro are processed by Paddle.com, our online reseller and Merchant of Record. When you buy, Paddle collects the details needed to complete and account for the sale — such as your name, email address, country and postal code, and payment details — and handles them under Paddle’s Privacy Policy. We never receive your full payment card details. Paddle shares with us your email address, what you bought, and the status of your subscription, so we can issue and maintain your license.
5. License activation
To issue and verify your Nikko Pro license, our license server stores:
- License details — your license key, email address, plan, subscription status, and Paddle customer and order identifiers.
- Activated Macs — for each Mac you activate: a one-way hashed device identifier (derived from your Mac’s hardware ID; the hardware ID itself never leaves your Mac), your Mac’s name (for example “Alex’s MacBook Pro”) so you can recognize it, the App version, and when it was activated and last verified.
The App contacts the license server only to activate, verify (about every few hours while in use), or deactivate your license, to re-send your key, and to open your billing portal. The free trial runs entirely on your Mac and sends nothing. We use this information solely to provide and protect your license, and to answer your support requests. It is hosted on Cloudflare, and license emails are delivered through Resend; both act as our service providers. We keep license records for as long as your license exists and as required for tax and accounting purposes, and you can ask us to delete them at any time (doing so deactivates the license).
6. Information we do not collect
We do not collect your clipboard content, run analytics or tracking in the App, or sell or rent personal information. The App does not require you to create an account.
7. Permissions the App uses
- Pasteboard access — to capture what you copy and paste items back for you.
- Accessibility / automation — where applicable, to paste into the frontmost app on your behalf.
- iCloud — only if you enable sync.
- Network access — for iCloud sync and license verification only.
You control these permissions through macOS System Settings and can revoke them at any time.
8. Data retention
Because your data is stored locally, retention is governed by your own settings — including history limits, retention periods, auto-clean rules, and recycle-bin duration. Deleting the App removes its locally stored data from that device. License information is retained as described in section 5.
9. Children’s privacy
Nikko is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. We process license information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the license you bought). To exercise these rights, email us at the address below. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact us
